The Spotlight Shines on Billie
in her Starring Role

Billies daughter is a music teacher at Washougal High School and they are presenting the play The Quilter on April 26, 27, 28 and May 3, 4 and 5. Tickets are $8. We would love to have you join our group on Friday, May 4th. Call for details.

Pam Raby
Machine Quilting FUNdamentals Workshop
The key to free motion quilting is stitching in any direction smoothly and with control. You'll begin stitching basic, simple shapes that build your skills so you can master stitching in all directions. You will stitch a sampler that combines these basic shapes to create fun, no-mark textures and then fill with loops, hearts and swirls.

Learn to Quilt I Class
Come learn to quilt! In this class especially for beginners, you will learn to rotary cut and sew several basic quilt blocks including flying geese, 4-patches and sawtooth stars to make the French Country quilt by Sandi Ray. Your instructor, Pam Raby, will include a discussion of tools, quilting terminology and a slide show overview of different styles of quilts.

Love is in the Air Quilt Class
Can you see the love? Look closely
it's right there in the middle! Blended tonals create a sophisticated background for the interesting mix and match prints to make this LOVE-ly quilt. In class, Pam will focus on piecing in the first session, then move on to quilting lessons in the second session.

Let the School Bell Ring Block of the Month Classes
Earn your "degree" in quilt-making with this scholarly sequence designed by Sandi Ray exclusively for us. Your diploma is a 66" x 77" quilt you will be proud to hang anywhere. Our tried and true lessons will teach you a new skill each month. Your first class starts with templates for the house block. With each new lesson, you'll surround your house with pieced trees, flying geese, crazy patch flowers and a mixture of stars and blind hem appliquι. If you would like a little help, attend "school" here at The Pine Needle.

The fun Lil' Twister tool makes interlocking pinwheels. Learn the secrets behind the tool, which fabrics to use and which to avoid; how to give your pinwheels maximum motion; working with bias edges; and how to press those seams.

Going in Circles Technique Workshop
Dawn delights in showing quilters her nifty method of sewing set-in circles, which banishes the drudgery of matching concave and convex seams. If you already have her popular table runner/wall hanging patterns, Full Moon Rising or Full Moon Rising II, here's your chance to see them spring to life. As a bonus, Dawn will show you her quick and easy method of making finished-edge appliquι circles using fusible interfacing.

Fractured Image Workshop
It's easier than you think to create a fractured image, with its ripples-in-a-pond effect. The magic is in the cutting and arranging of squares, and Dawn will guide you in the process. The size of the quilt top depends on the image you choose to fracture. The fractured image is dazzling on its own but also striking when combined with Dawn's
four-patch wonder blocks -- she'll give you a quick lesson in those as well.

Portrait Quilt Class
Last fall we were honored to host Hanging by a Thread, an exhibit of quilts created by the Boistfort Valley Quilt Club. The outstanding work of these talented Washington artists has been featured around the country.
Interest in the quilts was overwhelming and the many requests for a class were heard! Lynn Czaban will come teach you how to turn your favorite photo into a treasured quilt. You'll learn machine appliquι, thread painting, fusing, and more.
Before class, select your photo and send the digital image to Lynn. To save time, she will prepare each image for the first day of class. You will be astounded at what you can accomplish as your photo comes to life!
